Coming home after a long vacation

No trouble if you’re a celebrity or just the ordinary girl everyone has long vacation stories. Divulge about your success, feelings, thoughts, rants, embarrassing moments, and lessons of the day. People love knowing about what others have experienced when they come home after a long vacation.

What was it like to come home after a long vacation?

Your home is a reflection and an extension of you and your life, and it also takes on your energy. Since you were gone on vacation, you probably thought about home, hoping it was out of harm’s way. Everything was “still” at your home while you were away, without movement and when you came back, you sensed the stillness and felt as if it were waiting for you to come home and carry on as if you never left.

In comparison, let’s say you had a little dog and cat at home and had a house sitter stay at your house the entire time you were away. If you came back after this scenario, you wouldn’t feel as if your house “stood still” because there were human and pet energy in the house.
Well, that is how I feel and experienced it myself. I have a real connection with my home. I hope this helps you understand! 🙂

Its Emotionally harder to come home then to go away

Before my first journey around the world, I was driving through Delhi with my friend Mayank. One of the things I was speaking about was how complex life would be when I returned home. Where would my friends be in life? How would they have turned? What jobs would they have? New hobbies? New relationships? I assumed a world of possibility.

“Everything will be exactly how you left it,” he said. “When I studied in Gwalior, I thought the same thing. But in truth, nothing will be modified when you come home. Everything and everyone will be the same.
I didn’t believe him. After all, a lot can happen in a year.

But when I came back, I realized he was right. I had changed, but the home hadn’t. My friends, now heading into their late twenties, had the same jobs, we’re going to the same bars and were mostly doing the same things. Moreover, Gwalior itself just felt the same. It had the same pulse as it had before.

It was as if the home had remained frozen throughout my time away. I still loved my friends, family, and city, but I didn’t fit in anymore. I ought outgrown being there. Home felt small and unrelatable — I had this fire in me that I couldn’t explain to anyone, and it baffled me. It grieved to try new things, go new places, and meet new people, but whenever I sought to express that, words fell flat. That fire was a sensation only those who had traveled showed to understand — a simplistic permission to convey the judgment of this shared bond.

As the excitement of home wore off; I admired what was next. I was restless. I felt stale. Did I take this long trip only to end up right back where I commenced? No, of course not. I took it to grow.

Coming home after a long vacation
Coming home is easier now than it was that first time in 2017 but the road still beckons me after just a few days. I know it’s there that I will find kindred spirits who understand me.

Every time a friend comes home from a trip, their first question to me is always, “How do you cope?” Returning home is hard, and few people address the reality that coming back is usually anticlimactic close to a life-changing experience.

You exhibit as if you came after to precisely the spot you left. I know. I’ve been there. And so have many others. Post-travel trouble is real. Anyone who has returned from a journey knows what I’m talking about and how exactly. We talk about how amazing and life-changing long-term travel is but seldom address the idea that coming home is harder than leaving.

When the primary hugs are hugged out, the stories told, and the reunions over, many of us find that coming back home isn’t coming home at all. Our real home is being surrounded by the unknown.

The road is where we reside. And because of that, our gaze will eternally be on the horizon, looking, dreaming, and wishing for another chance to get away again.
